My science fiction story is pretty much finished, though it might be a bit over the length limit.

A Pilot Online / HamptonRoads.com article on this weekend’s FantaSci at Chesapeake’s Main Library. We’ll be there running a mini-comics workshop all day, and we’re running a discussion/panel on “Building a Creative Community” at 2:00 p.m. It’s a free event with LOTS going on — tell your friends!

Has anyone here joined a group like http://ift.tt/13T5zW3? It’s run by Andy Schmidt who was an editor at Marvel for a bit, the workshop price is very affordable but the classes are pretty pricey. I’ve joined the workshop part of it, two months ago, I’d have to say I do enjoy reading the scripts, problem is most people on the site don’t seem so friendly. It may just be that I’m overly friendly though. Thoughts ?

UPDATE: Apparently, I was a bit overzealous this morning. I just had a chance to chat with Jason, and upon digging further into their page and archive, it seems like these guys are a couple of local comic nerds like us who get excited about the same stuff in general that we do. Since they’re kindred spirits, and they work with the local comics community, here’s a link to their podcast/blog page: http://ift.tt/SwADGN

I just removed a post from a new user who (apparently) immediately upon being approved for the group, posted a link to a (seemingly unrelated) podcast, then added another link in the comments. We’re trying to keep this about the local (and local-ish) comic creators’ community. Everyone is welcome to share their work and any interesting resources that you think would benefit local creators. If it’s not obviously related to either of those things, feel free to run it by me or one of the other senior members here. Thanks!
